Performance Anxiety Rehab
Performance Anxiety is one of the most debilitating factors a performing musician must face. Most performers suffer from some form of pre concert jitters. Some experience performances interrupted by mistakes, memory slips or by negative self talk. Those who suffer from the effects of performance anxiety also experience the frustrating realization that so much potential was left in the practice room.
I know because I experienced all of the above. I assumed more performing would help. It didn’t. I assumed performing major recitals (like my Carnegie Recital Hall and Wigmore Hall Debuts) would make smaller venue performances easier. It didn’t. Finally, I made a rare ultimatum with myself; either learn to enjoy performing or QUIT!
Through years of research, and the application of certain tools in my teaching and performing I came up with a formula balanced by practical practice tools and group performance interaction (PAR PODS) to eliminate PA and make some fun discoveries along the way!
Join me for my monthly PAR Workshop and learn to eliminate the needless and even damaging effects of performance anxiety.

Introduction
In this first workshop I’ll introduce the parameters of Performance Anxiety Rehab (PAR) and Par Pod Workshops. Here we begin to establish a comfortable and safe environment where we can learn to integrate the upcoming performance anxiety skill sets.

Rosewood Members will have access to all ongoing Online Workshops which will be held the first three Saturdays of the month, from 1-2 pm PDT. The first Saturday of the month is all technique with Tech Talk w/Scott. The second Saturday, Perfect Practice, will focus on making your practice more effective and the third Saturday’s workshop, Performance Anxiety Rehab will focus on how to minimize or eliminate the effects of performance anxiety.
While students can participate in single workshops, workshops will likely be progressive. All workshop attendees will receive practice instructions for the following workshop.
The workshops will consist of as many as four performers and an unlimited number of auditors. Performers are chosen at my discretion.
In each workshop I’ll introduce and demonstrate a skill or a set skills. I’ll teach that skill to the performers. Auditors can follow along. All participants will leave with a clear set of guidelines and practice instructions! Performers and auditors can participate in the sessions Q & A at the end of each session.

Most frequent questions and answers
What proficiency level should I have to attend?
Anyone should be able to partake in the workshops as an auditor. Performers will want to have a working knowledge and proficiency level from beginner to advanced.
How long are the classes?
I always try to start and end  on time; 1 hour. It’s good to arrive early as I’ll have the ‘room’ open at 12:50 PDT.
Should I perform or audit?
If you’re unsure attend a few workshops. Complete the assignments and then see how you feel.
In any case auditors should prepare as if they were going to perform. You’ll get the maximum from the class.

Your Next Step
If you’d like to set up an introductory meeting please fill out the form on this page. Give me a little background and we’ll set up a meeting. If you’re anything but a beginner I’ll want to watch you play a few things; a scale, arpeggio or short excerpt from something you are comfortable playing. I’ll give you my assessment and outline the lesson plan. If we’re both comfortable we can schedule your lessons!
